How to install and activate the Windows 11 Pro and Office 2021 bundle
This Windows 11 Office 2021 bundle carries two keys for one computer: one for Windows 11 Pro, one for Office 2021 Professional Plus. Install Windows first from microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 and activate it in Settings, System, Activation. Then install Office from the link in your order email and activate it in Word under File, Account. Allow about an hour.

Before you start
Two things go wrong with bundles: doing the pieces in the wrong order, and expecting the Office key to work at setup.office.com.
- Find both keys in your order email. One is labelled Windows 11 Pro, the other Office 2021 Professional Plus. Not interchangeable.
- Decide which computer gets the bundle. Both keys belong to the same PC. Office on a second machine needs a second Office license.
- Remove any Microsoft 365 or older Office first. Settings, Apps, Installed apps. An existing install is the usual cause of a failed Office setup.
- Check the PC meets the Windows 11 requirements. PC Health Check tests TPM and Secure Boot for you.
- Back up anything you cannot replace. A clean install erases the drive you select. An upgrade does not.

Download Windows 11 and Office 2021 Professional Plus
The two halves come from different places, and that is where people go wrong. Windows comes from Microsoft’s download page. Office 2021 Professional Plus is a volume edition, so it comes from the installer link in your order email, not setup.office.com.
- Get Windows 11 first. Installation Assistant for an in-place upgrade, Media Creation Tool for an 8 GB USB stick, or the ISO.
- Open the Office link in your order email. It downloads the Professional Plus installer. Save it, but do not run it yet.
- Do not use setup.office.com. That page takes Home and Business style keys. A Professional Plus key is refused there.
- Keep both files in one folder. Useful if you reinstall.
Some orders ship the Office Deployment Tool instead of a direct installer. If your email points there, the configuration file we send selects Professional Plus and the right bit version. Email us if the link is missing.
Install Windows 11 Pro, then Office 2021
Order matters. Windows goes first, because installing Office and then rebuilding Windows means doing Office twice.
- Install or upgrade Windows 11. On Windows 10, run the Installation Assistant to keep files and apps. On Windows 11 Home, use Upgrade your edition of Windows. For a clean install, boot the USB stick and pick Windows 11 Pro.
- Finish setup and run Windows Update. Get the PC patched before Office goes on. It avoids half the installer errors.
- Uninstall any leftover Office or Microsoft 365. Settings, Apps, Installed apps. Restart afterwards even if Windows does not ask.
- Run the Office installer. It runs with a progress window and takes ten to twenty minutes. Do not go offline part way through.
- Open Word when it finishes. The apps appear in the Start menu: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Publisher.
If the installer stops with 30015-25 or 30038-25, an older Office or a Microsoft 365 trial is still on the PC. Remove it, restart, run the installer again. Our Office Professional Plus guide covers that route in detail.
Activate Windows 11 Pro and Office 2021 separately
Two keys, two places. Neither works where the other goes, so keep the order email open.
- Activate Windows first. Settings, System, Activation, Change product key. Enter the Windows 11 Pro key and click Next.
- Open Word on the same PC. A blank document is enough. Do not sign in with a Microsoft account, just close that box.
- Go to File, Account. Under Product Information you will see Change Product Key or Activate Product.
- Enter the Office 2021 Professional Plus key. Paste the 25 characters and click Activate. The banner across the top disappears.
- Check the other apps. Excel and Outlook pick the license up on their own. No need to repeat the key.

Check that both halves worked
Four quick looks tell you the bundle is licensed.
- Settings, System, Activation. Reads Windows is activated with a digital license.
- Settings, System, About. Edition reads Windows 11 Pro.
- Word, File, Account. Product Information reads Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 and Product Activated.
- No yellow banner. Nothing across the top of Word or Excel about an unlicensed product.
Common errors and how to fix them

The Office key is refused at setup.office.com
Office 2021 Professional Plus is a volume edition and setup.office.com only accepts Home and Business style keys, so the page rejects it however carefully you type. Use the installer link in your order email instead, then activate in Word under File, Account, Change Product Key. Nothing is broken and no activation is lost. If the link has expired, reply to the email and we send a fresh one.
0xC004C020: the activation limit has been reached
This is the volume licensing message, and it means the key needs to go through telephone activation rather than online. Open Word, File, Account, Change Product Key, enter the key, and when the wizard offers phone activation follow it. You read an Installation ID to an automated line and type back the Confirmation ID. 30015-25 or 30038-25 during the Office install
Another Office is in the way. A Microsoft 365 trial that shipped with the PC, an old Office 2016, or a half-removed installation will all block the setup. Open Settings, Apps, Installed apps, remove everything named Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office, restart the computer and run the installer again. The restart matters, because the files stay locked until the PC reboots.
Word says Unlicensed Product after it worked before
The license is usually still valid and Office has lost contact with it, often after a large Windows update. Open any Office app, File, Account, then Update Options, Update Now, and restart the PC. If the banner stays, re-enter the key under Change Product Key. If it is refused then, email us the order number and we look at replacing it.

Can I put Windows on one PC and Office on another?
No. The bundle is priced as two licenses for one computer, and both keys belong on the same machine. Splitting them across two PCs is outside what the license covers, and it causes trouble later when one machine is rebuilt. If you need Office on a second computer, a standalone Office 2021 Professional Plus license is the straightforward answer, and it installs the same way from the same kind of order-email link. Do I have to install Windows before Office?
It is strongly advised. Office writes itself into the Windows installation, so if you install Office and then reinstall or clean install Windows afterwards, Office disappears and you do the whole thing again. If your PC already runs a properly activated Windows 11 Pro and you are happy with it, go straight to the Office half and keep the Windows key for the day you rebuild the machine. The one thing to avoid is installing Office and then wiping Windows.
Which Office apps are included?
