For a business machine running old software, the Windows 7 Pro product key is the one to buy: domain join and XP Mode are the features people actually rely on. Ultimate is worth it only if you specifically want BitLocker. Home Premium is fine for a family PC that will stay offline or behind a firewall.
32-bit or 64-bit, and Does the Key Care?
It does not. A Windows 7 product key is edition-specific but architecture-neutral, so the same Professional key activates either the 32-bit or the 64-bit installer. Choose 64-bit if the PC has more than 4 GB of RAM and a 64-bit processor, which covers almost everything built after 2008. Choose 32-bit only when a driver or an ancient piece of software insists on it.
A Frank Word About Security
We would rather lose a sale than pretend otherwise: Windows 7 does not receive security patches anymore. If the machine must stay on Windows 7, treat it like the specialist equipment it is. Keep it off the open internet where possible, put it behind a firewall or on its own network segment, do not use it for email or browsing, and keep backups. Used that way, Windows 7 remains perfectly serviceable for years.

Installing and Activating Windows 7 in 2026
