How to download, install and activate Windows 10 Pro on five PCs
Download Windows 10 once from microsoft.com/software-download/windows10, build one USB installer, and carry it around all five computers. On each PC, install or change edition, then open Settings, Update and Security, Activation and enter a key. One key per computer, and keep a note of which key went where.
| Official download | microsoft.com/software-download/windows10, once for all five |
|---|---|
| Installer type | One Media Creation Tool USB drive or ISO, reused per PC |
| Time needed | 10 to 20 minutes per PC for an edition change, longer for a clean install |
| Activation | Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change product key |
| Works on | Five PCs, one activation each |
| Free help | Email every day, phone Mon–Fri 9am–6pm ET |
Before you start
Doing five machines is the same job five times, so a little order at the start pays off.
- Read your order email first. It lists what you received and how many activations each key covers.
- One activation per computer. A Windows 10 Pro product key used twice returns 0xC004C008.
- Keep a note as you go. Machine name against key.
- Finish one PC before starting the next. Half-done machines are how keys get entered twice.
- Windows 10 support ended October 14, 2025. No further security updates on any of the five.
| Requirement | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Processor | 1 GHz or faster, 64-bit or 32-bit |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM for 64-bit, 1 GB for 32-bit |
| Storage | 32 GB or larger drive |
| Graphics | DirectX 9 or later with a WDDM 1.0 driver |
| Display | 800 x 600 or higher |
| Also needed | One 8 GB USB drive, plus internet on each PC for activation |
Download Windows 10 once for all five PCs
The installer carries no licensing, so a single download covers every machine in the pack.
- Download once, use on every PC. Go to microsoft.com/software-download/windows10. The same media installs all five machines.
- Build one USB installer with the Media Creation Tool. Create installation media writes a bootable installer to a spare 8 GB drive, erasing it.
- Or take the ISO if you prefer. One image holds Home and Pro, and the key you enter picks Pro.
- Skip all of this for PCs already on Windows 10. A machine running Home or an unactivated Pro needs no download at all, only a key.
Only need one machine covered? A single Windows 10 Pro license costs less, and the rest of our Windows 10 licenses cover workstation and IoT editions.
Install or upgrade each PC to Windows 10 Pro
Three situations, and most sets of five computers contain a mixture of them.
- Work through one PC at a time. Finish a machine completely before starting the next. Mixing them up is how keys get double entered.
- On a PC already running Pro, do nothing here. Go straight to Step 3 and enter a key.
- On a PC running Home, change edition in place. Settings, Update and Security, Activation, Upgrade your edition of Windows, Change product key. Nothing is erased.
- On a bare machine, install from the USB drive. Boot from it, click I do not have a product key, and choose Windows 10 Pro from the edition list.
- Write down which machine you just did. A line in a notebook now saves a long afternoon later.
On a PC already running Windows 10 Home, the in-place edition change is almost always the better route. It keeps files, programs and accounts, and takes a fraction of the time.
Activate Windows 10 Pro on each computer
A minute per machine once it can reach Microsoft.
- Get the PC online. A key cannot be checked offline.
- Open Settings, Update and Security, Activation. Windows 10 keeps activation here, not under System where Windows 11 moved it.
- Click Change product key and enter a key. Use the keys exactly as your order email lists them, one per computer.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account. Windows ties a digital license to that account, so the troubleshooter can restore it after a hardware change.
- Note the key against the machine, then move on. Repeat until all five are done.
If online activation fails twice on a machine, phone activation still works: press the Windows key and R, then type slui 4. Our Confirmation ID walkthrough shows each screen.
Check that it worked
On each PC, open Settings, Update and Security, Activation. Three signs it worked.
- Activation state reads Active. With a digital license, linked to a Microsoft account if you signed in.
- The edition reads Windows 10 Pro. Under Settings, System, About, with BitLocker and Remote Desktop available.
- Your notes show five machines and five keys. Cross off the last one and the job is finished.
Common errors and how to fix them
On a multi-PC pack the first of these is the one to expect.
0xC004C008: the key is already in use on another device
The most common error on a multi-PC pack, and it usually means a key went in twice by accident. Check your notes for which machine that key belongs to. If you have lost track, check the Activation page on each PC to see which are already done, then use a fresh key here. If every key is spent but you have fewer than five activated machines, email us with your order number.
0xC004F050: the product key is not valid
Usually an out of date Home installation or the key typed in the wrong box. Install everything waiting in Windows Update, restart, then use Change product key under Upgrade your edition of Windows rather than the one under Activation state. Retype the key by hand instead of pasting it, since a trailing space is easy to copy in. Check too that Settings, System, About really shows the edition you expect.
0xC004C003: the activation server says the key is blocked
The server refuses the key outright. On a five PC pack this normally means the key has been used on a machine you have forgotten about, so check your notes first. Nothing on the PC fixes it and reinstalling does not help. Email contact@officegsm.com with your order number and we look the key up, send a replacement, and if we cannot get you activated the 180-day guarantee covers a refund.
0xC004F074: Windows cannot reach the activation servers
The connection rather than the key, and on an office network it often hits every PC at once. Confirm the machine is online, then check the date, time and time zone, because a clock that is days out breaks the secure handshake. Pause any VPN or proxy and try again. If it persists, press the Windows key and R, type slui 4 and follow our Confirmation ID guide.
0xC004F213 or 0xC004F034: no product key found after a hardware change
Windows lost the license because the motherboard or the drive changed, so it now sees a different computer. If you signed in with a Microsoft account before the change, open Settings, Update and Security, Activation, run the Activation troubleshooter and choose I changed hardware on this device recently. Sign in and pick the old machine from the list. If no account was linked, enter the key for that PC again and it reactivates.
Windows 10 Pro 5 PC pack questions
What customers ask us most about multi-PC packs.
How many computers does this Windows 10 Pro pack cover?
Five. Each computer gets its own activation, and an activation cannot be shared between two machines, so five PCs means five activations used. Your order email is the authority: it lists exactly what you received and how many activations each key covers. Enter a key on one computer, let it activate, and only then move to the next. A short note of which key went to which machine takes a minute and saves real confusion the first time one of those PCs has to be rebuilt.
Can I use this to upgrade five Windows 10 Home PCs to Pro?
Yes, and that is the most common use for it. On each Home machine, open Settings, Update and Security, Activation, expand Upgrade your edition of Windows, click Change product key and enter one of your keys. Windows switches edition and restarts once, in about ten to twenty minutes, and nothing on the PC is erased. Install everything waiting in Windows Update before you start, because Home will not change edition on out of date servicing files, and that is exactly what produces the 0xC004F050 error.
Do I have to download Windows 10 separately for each PC?
No. Download once and reuse the media on every machine. Build a single USB installer with the Media Creation Tool from microsoft.com/software-download/windows10, or keep one ISO, and carry it from machine to machine. The installer contains no licensing at all, so it is identical for every computer and only the key differs. PCs that already run Windows 10, in either Home or an unactivated Pro, need no download whatsoever, because those are handled entirely from the Activation page in Settings.
Windows 10 support ended. Is a five PC pack still sensible?
Windows 10 stopped receiving security updates on October 14, 2025, so the answer depends on the machines. A pack still suits a set of older PCs that cannot meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements, an office running software with no Windows 11 build, or machines that stay offline. For computers on the internet every day we would point you at Windows 11 Pro instead, and any of those five PCs that does qualify can take the free Windows 11 upgrade afterwards.
