How to download, install and activate Office LTSC 2024 Standard
Your Office LTSC 2024 Standard download is the installer link in the OfficeGSM order email that carries your key, and it sets up the volume build on Windows 10 or 11. When the apps are in place, open Word and use File, Account, Change Product Key. Allow 15 to 30 minutes, and skip setup.office.com.

Before you start
A few minutes of tidying up prevents nearly every ticket we get about this edition. Office LTSC 2024 will not share a computer with another Office, and the key is entered after installation, not during it.
- Keep the order email open, because it holds the download link and the key. Both are in your account too.
- Uninstall every other Office first, in Settings, Apps, Installed apps, including Microsoft 365 and the trial on new laptops. Then restart.
- Clear the leftovers with Microsoft’s Office uninstall support tool if an entry keeps reappearing.
- Do not sign in with a Microsoft account, which can drop a Microsoft 365 license on top of the one you paid for.
- Stay online and on mains power, with a few gigabytes free on the disk.

Download Office LTSC Standard 2024
Start from the download link in your order email. It points at Microsoft’s Click-to-Run installer for the perpetual volume build, the only build your key matches. Nothing is redeemed on a web page first: setup.office.com serves retail cards and answers “Service unavailable” for a volume key.
- Open your OfficeGSM order email. It carries the key beside the installer link.
- Click the download link. The 64-bit build is standard. Ask us if an old add-in needs 32-bit.
- Save the file and keep the email open, because the key is needed soon.
IT teams can pull the same files from Microsoft with the Office Deployment Tool. Extract it, save the file below as configuration.xml beside setup.exe, then run both commands from an administrator Command Prompt.

Installation is hands-off, and one detail catches people out daily: the installer never asks for a product key. That is correct here, because the key goes in afterwards, inside Word.
- Run the downloaded file and approve the prompt from Windows.
- Get past SmartScreen. On “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. If nothing happens at all, turn Smart App Control off in Windows Security.
- Leave the progress window alone. Closing it or restarting partway means starting again.
- Wait for the message saying you are all set. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote are then in the Start menu.
- Open the desktop app, not the Store app. Press the Windows key, type Word, and pick the app you just installed.
If a sign-in box appears, close it. A Microsoft account is not needed here, and signing in is the quickest way to end up with a Microsoft 365 trial instead.
Activate Office LTSC 2024 Standard with your product key
Activation is done once, in any app, and it covers the whole suite. We use Word because it is the app people open first. Have your 25-character key to hand.
- Open Word and close the start screen.
- Click File, then Account, near the bottom of the left-hand column.
- Click Change Product Key. On a fresh install it sometimes reads Activate Product, which is the same thing.
- Paste the 25-character key from the order email rather than typing it, which avoids mix-ups between 0 and O.
- Let activation finish, then close every Office app and reopen Word.
- Read the Product Information panel. It should show Office LTSC Standard 2024 and the status Product Activated.
If you get 0xC004C020, or a message about a Multiple Activation Key reaching its limit, the key is still good and Microsoft wants the job finished by phone. Click Back, choose to activate by telephone, and follow our phone activation and Confirmation ID guide.
Check that it worked
Open Word, click File and then Account, and compare the panel with the lines below.
- The product name reads Office LTSC Standard 2024. Anything else means an older Office is in charge.
- The status says Product Activated, with no countdown or coloured banner.
- The banner stays away after a restart. Reboot and open Excel to be sure.
- Every app opens. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote share this one activation.

0xC004C020 or “activated up to the limit of your Multiple Activation Key”
Online activation on the key is used up, which is not the same as an invalid key, and Microsoft wants the last step finished by phone. In Word open File, Account, Change Product Key, enter the key, and when the error appears click Back and choose to activate by telephone. Pick your country to get an Installation ID, then read it to the automated line or send us a screenshot and we will get the Confirmation ID for you.
0xC004C003 or “the specified product key is blocked”
A blocked key is one Microsoft has pulled on their own servers, so nothing on your PC will fix it. Email your order number and a screenshot to contact@officegsm.com. We check the key with our supplier and send a replacement free of charge, usually the same day, and it goes in the same way under File, Account, Change Product Key. Office does not need reinstalling for a new key.
Error 30015-25, 30038-25 or “we can’t install because Microsoft 365 is installed”
The installer has stopped because another Office is already on the computer, and the two cannot share a machine. In Settings, Apps, Installed apps, uninstall every Office and Microsoft 365 entry, including the trial that came with the laptop, then restart and try again. If the error returns, files are still on the disk: Microsoft’s Office uninstall support tool clears them. Restart once more before the next attempt.
Access or Publisher is missing from the Start menu
That is the edition rather than a fault. Office LTSC 2024 Standard is Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote, and Access is only in Professional Plus. Can I redeem my Office 2024 Standard key at setup.office.com?
No, and this is the question we answer more than any other. The setup.office.com page exists for retail Microsoft 365 subscriptions and retail Office cards sold in shops. This product is the volume-licensed perpetual edition, so that page returns “Service unavailable” or says the key is invalid, and neither message tells you anything about your key. Install Office first from the link in your order email, then enter the key in Word under File, Account, Change Product Key. That is the only place a key like this is accepted.
How long is Office LTSC 2024 supported, and how many PCs does a key cover?
Microsoft supports the Office LTSC 2024 release with security updates until October 9, 2029, with no subscription or renewal in between. One key activates one computer. If you rebuild that same machine or reinstall Windows, the key can normally be used on it again, and when online activation refuses, telephone activation clears it in a few minutes.
